Canada Life gives children free critical illness cover

Fri, 11 Jul 2008

Canada Life is giving up to £20,000 free critical illness (CI) cover for the children of all group CI policy members. Available via CLASS, Canada Life’s automated service for intermediaries, the benefit will be payable under the policy if a child is diagnosed to be suffering from one of the insured illnesses .

Canada Life says that the amount paid out under the cover will be the lower of either one quarter of the total of the member’s scheme benefit, or £20,000. Children of a member, natural or legally adopted and aged between 30 days and 18 years will be eligible for this benefit.

Dan Stewart, CLASS business development manager, said: "The critical illness market has extremely low penetration in the UK which presents an excellent opportunity for growth. Free children’s critical illness cover serves to enhance the product and we hope that it will help raise awareness and highlight the benefits of this valuable product."
